Gundalpe

Gundalpe sits at 1502m in the Bregenzerwald region of Vorarlberg. The hut is accessed from Schwarzenberg via the Dorenbach valley. Most parties hike up in 1.5 to 2 hours through mixed forest. A rough track shortens the approach to 1 hour from the upper parking areas near Dörfer, but the hiking route remains the standard approach. The hut marks a logical stop on longer ridge walks toward Hochälpele or down-valley treks through the Bregenzerwald.
Gundalpe has 31 beds spread across shared rooms. The hut serves simple meals including breakfast and dinner; you can also request packed lunches. There are no showers, but washbasins and toilets are available. The hut operates year-round and caters mainly to hikers using the broad network of Bregenzerwald trails. Expect a working hut rather than a resort experience—the focus is on shelter and basic comfort for trail users.
