Maison Forestière de l'Auragnier
2.0About
The refuge operates year-round and holds just 4 beds, making it a refuge of last resort rather than a planned overnight stop. There is no food service; bring all meals and drinking water. Facilities are basic: a wood stove for warmth and a simple sleeping area. The isolation and small scale demand self-sufficiency. This is suitable only for experienced hikers or mountaineers comfortable with minimal amenities and prepared to be flexible if access becomes difficult in winter.
Contact the Parc National des Écrins or local maire in Aubenas-les-Alpes before planning a visit. Phone ahead to confirm availability and current conditions—storms and snow can affect access. Do not rely on this as a guaranteed bed during peak summer season. Winter visits require mountain sense and awareness of avalanche risk in the Jabron approaches.
