Cabin du Lançonet

Cabane du Lançonet sits at 2,174m in the Alpes-Maritimes, on the eastern flank of Pic de la Cayolle. Reach it from the Pra-Loup ski station by hiking northeast through the Vallon de Lourès for roughly 2.5 hours. The route is marked and straightforward, gaining 600m elevation on a mountain trail. The cabin is a small stone refuge positioned for access to the ridgeline peaks above and the scrambling terrain that defines this sector of the range.
The cabin holds 5 beds across 2–3 rooms. Water comes from a spring nearby; cook your own meals on a portable stove or bring food ready to eat. There is no warden and no electricity. The cabin remains open year-round, but winter access requires mountaineering skills and equipment—summer and autumn are the practical seasons. This is a walker's refuge, not a staffed hut, so come prepared with a sleeping bag, cooking gear, and all supplies you need.
Book through FFCAM (Fédération Française des Clubs Alpins et de Montagne), which manages the hut. You must contact them directly to request a key and confirm access conditions. In summer, do this 4–6 weeks ahead. Winter visits need coordination with FFCAM well in advance, as conditions change rapidly and access is never guaranteed.
