Refuge de Sestrière sits at 2,612m in the Alpes-Maritimes, a serious day's walk from the Vallée de la Tinée. The standard approach climbs 1,400m over 5–6 hours from Auron. The hut also connects to the GR5 long-distance trail and sits on routes linking Mercantour and higher peaks in the southern Alps. Approach is hiking-only; no vehicle access. The refuge is a small, traditional mountain hut run by FFCAM with capacity for 40 people in mixed dormitory rooms. Full board meals are available; the kitchen produces solid mountain fare.
