Rifugio Genova-Figari

Rifugio Genova-Figari sits at 2010m in the Alpes-Maritimes, on the Franco-Italian border south of the Vallée de la Vésubie. The hut is a base for traversing the ridge country between the Parc National du Mercantour and Italian territory. Access from the valley floor takes 3–4 hours on foot; most parties approach via the Col de Fenêtre or from the Refuge de Peira Cava trail system. Snow lingers into June above 1800m, making spring approach routes unreliable.
The rifugio is managed by CAI Ligure (the Genova section) and operates year-round, though winter access depends on conditions. It has 30 beds across simple dormitory rooms. Evening meals and breakfast are available; bring your own lunch or ask staff about packed food. Water comes from a spring; the refuge has basic toilets and washing facilities but no showers. The hut is modest and functional, not a luxury stay. Phone coverage is unreliable; bring a paper map and compass.
Book at least three weeks ahead for weekends. The rifugio is quieter than the busier Vallée de la Vésubie refuges but fills during July and August.
