About
The cabin is small and simple, with capacity for about 20 people in dormitory beds. Meals are basic mountain fare: breakfast, packed lunches, and dinner. There is no running water (melted snow in summer, or water sources nearby). The hut has no generator or electricity. Blankets are provided but bring your own sleeping bag. The cabin opens mid-June and closes mid-September, weather permitting. This is an emergency shelter and base camp rather than a comfortable hut; expect spartan conditions.
Book directly with FFCAM or through the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc tourist office. July and August fill quickly; contact 4–8 weeks ahead. The hut can be unstaffed on quiet days, so confirm opening dates before you travel. Bring a sleeping bag, torch, and warm clothes even in summer. Mobile reception is absent; communication is by landline only.
