Cabin de la Tourche

Cabane de la Tourche sits at 2,198m in the Massif du Pelvoux sector of Parc National des Écrins. Reach it from the Vallée de la Guisane via the Pré de l'Alpe trailhead. The walk takes roughly 3 hours from the road. The hut works as a base for day routes across the high plateaus and is well-positioned for traverses linking the upper Guisane and Romanche valleys.
The cabin holds 60 beds across shared dormitories. Half-board is standard—evening meal and breakfast included. Packed lunches are available on request. Drinking water comes from reliable sources nearby. There is no self-catering kitchen; you eat what the guardian prepares. The hut operates from June through September, closing during winter snows. The guardian and helpers run a simple, functional operation focused on feeding hikers and providing shelter.
Book direct by email or phone as early as possible. July and August fill quickly, especially mid-month and weekends. June and September are quieter but weather is less stable. Groups larger than 8–10 should contact the hut well in advance to confirm space and meal logistics. Arrive by early afternoon to settle in before dinner service.
