Cabin du Col de Bostan

Cabane du Col de Bostan sits at 2,290m on the col between Mont-Blanc and Gran Paradiso, in the Haute-Savoie. Reach it from Refuge de la Pierre à Bérard via a 4-hour approach across the Glacier de Trélatête. The route is technically straightforward but crevasse-hazard on the glacier means rope skills and current conditions knowledge are essential. Winter access is not reliable. Most parties approach from Italy via the Gran Paradiso side, which offers a shorter access but requires border-crossing logistics.
This is a bare-bones climbing refuge managed by FFCAM. Capacity is around 20 people in dormitory beds. The caretaker provides simple meals and hot water; expect basic mountain hut food, not comfort. There's no shower, no WiFi, and no electricity beyond what the hut generates. The cabin operates July to September, weather-dependent. It functions primarily as a staging point for traverses of Mont-Blanc or Gran Paradiso rather than a destination hut.
Book directly through FFCAM or contact the caretaker in advance, especially for July and August. The col is exposed to sudden weather changes. Bring layers and rain gear regardless of the forecast. Snow can persist into late June, and autumn storms arrive early in September. Confirm current conditions and glacier status before committing to the approach.
