Chalet de Sautodoz

Chalet de Sautodoz sits at 1,614m in Haute-Savoie, above the village of Morzine. Reach it on foot from Morzine (1,5 hours) or from Nyon (2.5 hours), following clear marked trails through mixed forest and alpine meadow. The approach is straightforward and suitable for competent hikers carrying a pack. In winter, snow closes the hut and access becomes unreliable; this is a summer and early autumn destination.
The chalet offers 5 beds across simple dormitory rooms. The guardian serves hot meals and packed lunches if you order in advance. Water comes from a spring; heating is basic. The hut operates from June through September. This is a small, working mountain shelter rather than a commercial facility—expect rustic accommodation and a quiet stay. It suits hikers exploring the slopes between Morzine and the higher Chaîne du Roc d'Enfer, or those making a base for day walks in the area.
