Refuge du Petit-Tour

Refuge du Petit-Tour sits at 1486m on the north side of the Chaîne du Reposoir, in the limestone massif between the Aravis and Chaîne du Reposoir ranges. You reach it from the village of Entremont-le-Vieux by hiking past the Lac de Reposoir and climbing through forest and alpine meadow; count on 2.5 to 3 hours. The hut serves as a base for ascents in the area and for traverses across the high plateaux. Access is straightforward in summer but snow closes most approaches from November through May.
The hut is run by FFCAM and has capacity for around 50 people. It offers dortoir beds and basic meals—dinner and breakfast are available for residents. The kitchen is simple but functional. Water comes from a reliable spring. The shelter is open year-round in theory, but winter access requires serious mountain skills and conditions are often alpine; check before attempting a winter visit. Summer season runs reliably from June through September.
Book your bed directly with the hut or contact the local FFCAM section (Haute-Savoie). July and August fill quickly; aim to book 4 to 6 weeks ahead for peak season. Phone reservations work best; they'll tell you if space is available and confirm meal numbers. Winter stays are possible but confirm conditions and access routes with the guardian before committing.
