Gite de Montagne de Tré-le-Saix

Gîte de Montagne de Tré-le-Saix sits at 1530m in the Haute-Savoie, deep in pastoral terrain between the Aravis and Chablais ranges. Access is via hiking from the Vallée de la Dranse. The gîte works as a base for day walks across the pre-Alpine meadows or as a waypoint on longer traverses. Most parties reach it in 2.5 to 3.5 hours from trailheads in the valley below, depending on your starting point.

The gîte takes 15 guests in simple mountain rooms. Meals are provided: expect substantial evening dinners and packed lunches if requested. There's no shower facility, so plan accordingly. The place runs through the hiking season, typically May to September, though you should confirm opening dates before traveling. Water is available on-site. It's a working refuge with the feel of a family-run operation rather than a hut complex.

Book 4 to 8 weeks ahead for peak season (July–August). Outside July–August, 2 weeks is usually sufficient. Contact the gîte directly by email or phone to secure your spot and discuss meal arrangements, since flexibility on both is limited. Groups larger than 4 should book earlier.
