Refuge de Graydon

Refuge de Graydon sits at 1335m in Haute-Savoie, deep in terrain that rewards serious walkers. The approach varies depending on your starting point, but most routes take 2–4 hours on foot. The hut serves as a base for ridge traversals and peak ascents in the surrounding ranges, making it popular with climbers tackling Mont-Blanc approaches and traverses in the Chaîne du Mont-Blanc massif.
The refuge has 16 beds across simple, shared rooms. Meals are provided: expect hearty dinner and breakfast suitable for early starts. Water comes from mountain sources. The hut typically opens mid-June through September, though this depends on snow melt and staffing—confirm dates before planning your trip. There's no electricity or heating beyond basic provision, so pack layers.
Book directly by email or phone at least 6–8 weeks ahead for July and August. May and June weekends fill quickly too. Arrive by 4pm to guarantee a warm meal. The hut is staffed year-round by the FFCAM (Fédération Française des Clubs Alpins et de Montagne), so contact them for current conditions, group bookings, or if you're planning a winter visit when the hut operates on a reduced schedule.
