Lämmerenhütte

The Lämmerenhütte sits at 2,507m on the border between Uri and Bern in Switzerland. Approach from the north via Göschenen (2 hours), or from the Gadmen valley to the south (3–4 hours depending on your start point). The hut marks a natural junction on routes crossing the Urner Alps, with direct access to the Göschenen Reuss valley below.
The SAC-managed hut has 96 beds across multiple dormitory rooms. Evening meals and breakfast are served daily during the season. A self-catering kitchen is available if you bring your own food. Water comes from a reliable spring source. The hut operates year-round but sees heaviest use July through September and during Easter week. Winter ascents are possible but require mountain experience and proper equipment.
Book directly with the hut by phone or email as early as possible for July and August; these months fill 2–3 months ahead. Shoulder seasons (June, September) are quieter but still busy on weekends. Outside summer, advance booking is less critical but still recommended for weekends. Contact details are on the SAC website. The hut is popular with parties crossing from Uri into the Bernese Oberland, so expect a mix of through-hikers and mountaineers on multi-day tours.
