Refuge de Chalin

Refuge de Chalin sits at 2,595m in the Chamonix valley region of Haute-Savoie. Access is via the hamlet of Les Praz; the approach hike takes 2–2.5 hours and climbs steadily through meadow and larch forest before reaching alpine terrain. The refuge holds 8 beds in basic dormitory arrangement. You cook for yourself using the self-catering kitchen; there is no restaurant service or prepared meals. Water is available on-site. The hut operates summer season only, typically June through September, depending on snow conditions. Expect minimal staffing and simple conditions—bring a sleeping bag and be prepared to carry supplies in.
