About

Refuge de l'Envers des Aiguilles sits at 2,493m in the Mont-Blanc massif, above the Chamonix Valley. The standard approach is from Le Tour, climbing steeply through forest before breaking onto open terrain. The hut is 4–5 hours from Le Tour on foot. Most climbers use this refuge as a staging point for Mont-Blanc via the Trois-Monts route or for traverses toward Grands Montets. Winter access is possible for experienced alpinists only.
The refuge holds 68 beds across multiple dormitories. Meals are cooked on site: full dinners and packed lunches available. The hut has a small bar and offers basic shower facilities using meltwater. The FFCAM operates the refuge from June to September; winter weekends are sometimes possible but require advance notice and good conditions. Self-catering is not permitted.
Book directly by phone with the refuge. July and August fill 2–3 months ahead, particularly weekends and around 14 July. June and September have more availability. Arrive in late afternoon to settle in before dinner. Half-board is standard; full-board meals are available. The hut accepts cash and cards. Bring a sleeping bag liner as they are not always provided.
