Chalet du Soufflet
3.4About
The chalet is a small, rustic refuge run by FFCAM. It has 6 beds in one or two shared rooms. Meals are available: a simple dinner and breakfast are provided if you book in advance. Water comes from a spring outside. There are no showers or flush toilets—the hut has a basic pit latrine. It's unheated except for a wood stove in the common room. The operating season runs from mid-June to mid-September, weather dependent. This is a working mountain shelter, not a comfort base.
Book directly with the FFCAM guardian by phone or email as soon as your dates are fixed—summer weekends fill by May. July and August are busiest. The hut is ideal for walkers combining the GR55 with ascents of Mont Blanc de Cheiron or similar peaks in the massif. Solo hikers and small groups fit the intimate scale better than large parties.
