About

L'Aiguillette à la Singla sits at 3,179m on the ridge between Mont-Blanc and Gran Paradiso, in the high limestone country where France meets Italy. Access is from Refuge de Tête Noire (2,313m) in the Val d'Aosta side or from the Chamonix valley approach via Vallée Blanche. The approach takes 4–5 hours of steep scrambling and exposed terrain; this is not a walk-up hut. You need mountaineering experience and solid scrambling skills. Snow and ice can block the route until late June; check conditions before you go.
This is a bivouac shelter, not a staffed hut. It has 12 beds in tight quarters and a self-catering kitchen for melting snow and heating food. There are no wardens, no meals provided, and no electricity. You bring everything: fuel, food, sleeping bag, and climbing gear. The bivouac opens year-round, but winter approaches are serious alpine climbing. Summer use runs June to September, weather permitting.
Book through SAC (Swiss Alpine Club). Slots fill quickly for July and August—contact them at least 8 weeks ahead if you want a guaranteed spot. The hut is popular as a staging point for Gran Paradiso and Mont-Blanc traverses. Go in shoulder seasons (June, September) if you want solitude. Bring a stove, fuel canister, and enough water-carrying capacity; reliable water sources are scarce at this elevation.
