Refuge de l'Archeboc
4.3About
The refuge is family-run and holds 40 beds across mixed dormitories and a few double rooms. The kitchen serves evening meals and packed lunches; expect simple mountain fare rather than restaurant standards. There's a small bar. Water comes from the mountain stream; toilets are outside. The hut runs July through September, closing when snow makes access difficult. Electricity is limited, and the place stays deliberately basic—this is functional shelter, not a hotel.
Book directly by phone at least 3–4 weeks ahead for July and August. July weekends fill quickly. The refuge does not take online bookings, so a call is essential. If you're climbing Mont Pourri or doing the Vanoise traverse, phone ahead even if you think you won't need a bed: the staff can advise on snow conditions and route timing.
