Angerhütte

Angerhütte sits at 1030m in the Allgäu Alps, a straightforward base for exploring the gentler terrain between Oberammergau and Bad Hindelang. The hut is accessible year-round: reach it on foot via the Pöllat Valley in roughly 2 hours from Hohenschwangau, or approach from Bad Hindelang in 3 hours. Mountain bikers and trail runners use the hut as a turning point too. The location works well for traverses across the lower Allgäu and as an overnight stop on longer ridge walks heading toward Säuling or Hochvogel.
The DAV-managed hut offers 30 beds in simple rooms, shared facilities, and a kitchen-equipped common area for self-catering groups. Evening meals and breakfast are available on request. The hut runs year-round except for a maintenance closure in November. Winter access is reliable but snow can make timing unpredictable—contact ahead if visiting December to March. Cooking your own food saves time and expense compared to ordering meals.
Book 4–6 weeks ahead for weekends, especially during the German school holidays (mid-July to late August). Contact DAV Sektion Augsburg directly for reservations and exact opening dates. The hut is popular with families and hiking clubs, so arrive early on Saturdays or choose a weekday if you prefer fewer people.
