Schwarzenberghütte

Schwarzenberghütte sits at 1380m in the Allgäu Alps, on the edge of the Eistobel ravine near Isny im Allgäu. The hut is a 90-minute walk from the trailhead at Beuren or roughly 2 hours from Isny. Most hikers approach via the Eistobel gorge, which offers steep sections and scrambling—bring a helmet if you're uncomfortable with exposure. The setting is forested and intimate rather than high-altitude; this hut serves as a base for exploring the quieter western Bavarian ranges.
The DAV Sektion Illertissen manages this small, traditional hut. Capacity is around 20 beds across simple rooms. The hut serves hot meals and drinks, though the kitchen is basic. Expect traditional Bavarian fare rather than fine dining. There's no WiFi. The hut typically opens Easter through October, closing during heavy snow or maintenance. Outside these dates, call ahead to confirm. Water comes from a spring; toilets are functional but not luxurious.
Book by phone directly with the hut. Summer weekends fill quickly, especially in July and August—aim to reserve 2-3 weeks ahead for weekend stays.
