Bernadeinhütte
3.1About
The hut sleeps around 50 people across mixed dormitory and private rooms. Meals are available daily during the season; order dinner when you arrive. The kitchen serves straightforward Alpine fare. Showers and drying facilities exist but are basic. Bernadeinhütte operates year-round, though staffing is lighter in winter months. From here, the Gamsänger pass (1530m) lies just north, offering onward routes toward the Schreckarspitze or into the Pöllat gorge. Many walkers use it as a base for day trips rather than an overnight stop.
Book directly with the hut (phone or email) for overnight stays. The DAV Akademische Sektion München manages the property. July and August weekends fill quickly—book at least 3–4 weeks ahead. Mid-week outside school holidays is quieter. If you're a DAV member, mention it when booking; some sections offer rate reductions. The nearest towns (Oberammergau and Ettal) have additional accommodation if the hut is full.
