Bayreuther Hut

The Bayreuther Hütte sits at 1,560m in the Mangfall range, accessible from multiple directions. Most hikers approach from Bayrischzell (1 hour 15 minutes) via the Farrenpoint trail, or from Breitenstein (2 hours) through the Schönfelderwald. The hut works as a base for day walks to Schönfeldspitze (1,693m) and traverses across the range. Winter access is possible but weather dependent.
The hut has 40 beds across mixed dormitories and small private rooms. Half-board (dinner and breakfast) is standard, with a simple menu focused on regional dishes. The beer garden operates in good weather. There are no showers, but washrooms with hot water are available. The kitchen provides packed lunches if ordered in advance. The hut operates year-round, though staffing and services reduce in winter months. It's run by the DAV and maintains their member discounts.
Book directly by email or phone. July and August fill 4–6 weeks ahead; June and September rarely require more than 2 weeks' notice. The hut is quieter mid-week and in shoulder seasons. For winter stays, confirm conditions and staffing before arrival. Half-board rates are fixed; payment is cash or card.
