Blecksteinhaus

Blecksteinhaus sits at 1,022m in the northern Bavarian Alps, on the edge of the Benediktenwand massif east of Bad Tölz. The hut is accessible by car via forest road, or on foot from Bad Tölz town (roughly 2 hours). Most hikers arrive as part of a longer route through the foothills rather than as a destination in itself. The surrounding terrain is gentle woodland and pasture, making it suitable for families and less technical parties.
The DAV-managed hut has 44 beds across mixed dormitories and a few smaller rooms. Flush toilets are available. The kitchen serves simple dinners and breakfasts to residents. The hut stays open year-round, though opening hours vary seasonally. It functions primarily as a base for walks in the Benediktenwand area and the Isar valley. The setting is working farmland rather than high alpine, so expect green hills and forest rather than rocky peaks.

The hut is less pressured than higher-altitude huts in the main climbing season, making it reliable for shoulder-season visits in May, September, and October.
