Hirschberghaus

Hirschberghaus sits at 1,511m on the Hirschberg massif above Bad Tölz in the northern Bavarian Alps. The hut is reached in 2.5 hours from the Blomberg car park near Bad Tölz, following the marked trail via the Blombergalm. This is a straightforward walk on a well-maintained path suitable for winter access when snow permits. The setting overlooks the Isar valley and provides convenient access to ridge walking across the Hirschberg group toward the Benediktenwand.
The hut is run by the DAV and accommodates around 60 guests in mixed dormitory rooms and a few double rooms. The kitchen serves hearty Bavarian fare at lunch and dinner, with a self-service breakfast included. Water is reliable year-round. The hut remains open year-round, though winter opening times are shorter and should be confirmed before travel.
Book by phone directly with the hut. July and August fill weeks in advance, particularly on weekends. Late spring and September offer the best balance of reliable weather and fewer crowds. If you're planning a weekend stay during the summer season, call at least 6 weeks ahead. The hut accepts card payment and cash. Winter visitors should telephone before arrival to confirm staffing and snow conditions, as the final approach can be steep and icy.
