Refuge Ciarlo Bossi

Rifugio Ciarlo Bossi sits at 1,550m in the Ligurian Alps, a straightforward approach from the Colle del Lupetto trailhead. The hut lies on the ridge walk between Monte Saccarello and the French border—prime terrain for day trips into the Maritime Alps. Most hikers reach it in 2–3 hours from the col, following well-marked paths through beech and alpine scrub. The location works as a base for traverses toward Monesi di Triora or as a stopping point on longer ridge routes.

The rifugio operates year-round and holds 40 beds across shared rooms. Meals are available on request: the kitchen handles packed lunches, and dinner is hearty mountain fare at standard rates. Water comes from a spring; heating relies on wood stoves. Facilities are basic but reliable—expect no showers, outdoor toilets. The guardian lives here full-time and maintains the building well. The hut sits on CAI territory (Cuneo section manages the approach trails), so conditions are stable.

Book direct by phone; email response is slow. July and August weekends fill quickly—ring 2–3 months ahead if you need guaranteed beds. Winter is quieter but confirm opening before travel, as snow and weather can close access. The hut takes no online reservations, only direct calls to the guardian.
