Refuge Pian dei Corsi

Rifugio Pian dei Corsi sits at 1,430m in the Ligurian Apennines, on the watershed between the Aveto and Trebbia valleys. The approach takes 2.5 hours from Fontanavecchia, climbing through beech and fir forest on well-marked paths. Most hikers arrive via the ridgeline trail from Passo della Scoglina (2 hours from there). The location works as a stage point on longer traverses of the watershed ridge, or as a base for day walks into the surrounding valleys.

The rifugio has 28 beds split across simple shared rooms. The kitchen provides dinner and breakfast; bring your own lunch or buy supplies at the hut. There's no shower, but water is abundant. The hut opens year-round, though snow can make access difficult December to March—check conditions before visiting. The keeper maintains the hut alone, so the atmosphere is quiet and straightforward. Cell signal is patchy.

Book directly with the keeper by phone at least a week ahead, especially weekends. July and August see steady weekend traffic from Liguria's coastal towns. The hut is affiliated with CAI Genova. The nearest resupply is Fontanavecchia (1.5 hours downhill). Come prepared for basic conditions and self-sufficiency; this is working mountain shelter, not a tourist lodge.
