Baita Palmarusso di Sotto sits at 1,596m in the Vallone di Rassa, a quiet valley system in Lombardy's Brescia province. Reach it from the village of Collio in roughly 2 hours on foot. The trail climbs steadily through beech forest with minimal elevation gain—straightforward walking for any hiker. You can also approach from the Gaver valley to the west if you're linking multiple valleys in a day.

This is a working mountain dairy, not a conventional rifugio, so expect simple accommodation and food. The hut sleeps around 20 people in basic dormitory rooms. Meals focus on local cheese and dairy products—they make their own ricotta and butter. There's no phone signal here and no hot showers; wash water is cold. The hut operates year-round, though winter access depends on snow conditions. Come prepared for minimal comfort and maximum quiet.
