Cabin Campo Tencia

Capanna Campo Tencia sits at 2,140m on the Lombardy side of the Ticino Alps, between Monte Campolungo and Campo Tencia. The main approach comes from Rossa di Dentro in the Leventina valley (Canton Ticino, Switzerland). The hut lies 3 hours' walk above Rossa, gaining 900m through steep forest and alpine meadow. Italian hikers often approach from Pizzo Campo Tencia to the south, a longer route requiring 4–5 hours from the Gogna valley. The hut serves as a base for traverses toward Nufenen Pass and the peaks that ring the plateau.

The hut holds 60 beds in simple dorm rooms. The kitchen serves hot meals at dinner and breakfast, and you can self-cater if you bring food. Water is available on-site. The hut operates year-round but is reliably staffed June through September; winter use requires advance notice. Phone ahead in shoulder seasons. The building has no shower facilities—bring a washcloth and accept minimal hygiene.

The hut fills less in June and September, though Sundays are busy year-round. Weekday visits in shoulder season are easiest to arrange. Payment at the hut is cash-only—bring Swiss francs or euros.
