About

Rifugio Alpe di Biasagn sits at 2,020m in the Bergamasc Alps above the Val Seriana in Lombardy. Reach it from Ardesio by hiking 2.5 hours up the Passo della Presolana road, then follow the marked trail northeast. The final approach crosses open pasture with views north to the Orobie peaks. Most parties arrive from the Presolana gondola base, adding 90 minutes of ascent.

This is a small working mountain hut with 4 beds in basic dorm accommodation. The guardian manages summer operations and provides simple meals—expect pasta, polenta, and local cheese rather than restaurant cooking. Water comes from the spring; there is no shower. The hut functions as a waypoint for ridge traverses and scrambles across the mid-altitude Bergamasc limestone, not as a destination in itself. Open June through September, weather permitting.

Book directly with the guardian through CAI Bergamo or contact rifugio management via the local municipality office in Ardesio. July and August weekends fill quickly—reserve 2–3 weeks ahead. The hut closes in winter. Expect to carry a sleeping bag even in summer; blankets are thin. Cell reception is poor; bring a paper map.

Frequently Asked Questions

Book at least 2-3 weeks ahead during peak season (July-August), especially weekends; contact the guardian directly or check rifugi.net for availability.
Open June through September, staffed by the guardian during summer months; confirm dates before traveling as a small hut may close during poor weather.
From Ardesio, hike 2.5 hours up the Passo della Presolana road then northeast on marked trail (4 km total); or start from the Presolana gondola base and add 90 minutes of ascent.
4 beds in basic dorm rooms; meals and drinks provided by the guardian—bring a sleeping bag and expect simple mountain hut conditions, no showers.
Better for experienced hikers due to small capacity (4 beds), basic facilities, and high-altitude exposure; the 3-4 hour approach and open pasture terrain suit fit, acclimatized trekkers over families with young children.
