Refuge Antonio Omio

Rifugio Antonio Omio sits at 2,104m in the Bergamasque Alps of Lombardy. The hut stands above the Seriana valley, accessible from Castione della Presolana. Most hikers approach via the trail from Presolana village—allow 2.5 to 3 hours of steady climbing through mixed woodland before reaching the hut. The final section opens onto alpine meadow with views north toward the main ridge.

The rifugio holds 46 beds across multiple rooms. Meals are available: half-board is standard for overnight guests, with a menu of pasta, polenta, and local cheese. Water comes from the spring; there's no shower but washing facilities are adequate for a mountain hut. The kitchen runs year-round, though winter visits need advance warning. Mobile signal is patchy. The hut operates as a base for day walks across the Presolana plateau and as a stopping point for traverses linking the Orobie and Seriana valleys.

Book directly by phone or email at least 4 weeks ahead if you're arriving July through September. July and August weekends fill consistently. The hut is quieter in June and September, when availability is better. Confirm the season status before traveling in winter or early spring, as staffing varies. Most guests are Italian, and English is limited—email communication is more reliable than phone calls.
