Refuge Il Pirata

Rifugio Il Pirata sits at 1485m in the Lombardy Alps, serving hikers on routes through the Orobian range. The hut is accessible via trail from the Valle Seriana; expect 2–3 hours of hiking depending on your starting point. A mix of forest and open slopes leads to the hut. The location works well as a base for day walks or as a stop on longer valley traverses.

The rifugio operates year-round and sleeps roughly 40 guests in mixed and private rooms. Half-board (dinner and breakfast) is standard; the kitchen serves traditional mountain fare and packed lunches on request. Showers are available. Facilities are modest but functional—this is a working mountain hut, not a resort. The atmosphere tends toward hikers and walkers rather than climbers.

Book by phone ahead of your visit, especially for weekends. Summer weekends (June–September) fill quickly. The hut is quieter midweek and in shoulder seasons. Note the hut's location means it can get snowed in during winter; check conditions before travel in December through March.
