Refuge Passo San Marco 2000

Rifugio Passo San Marco 2000 sits at 1830m on the Passo San Marco pass in Lombardy, on the border between the Orobie and Prealpi Bergamasche ranges. Reach it from the Val Brembana side: the standard approach takes 3–4 hours from Piazza Brembana, following waymarked trails through mixed forest that open onto alpine meadow near the pass. The hut is also accessible from the Val Seriana to the south, though that route is longer. Summer snow typically clears by June.

The hut has 45 beds across shared dorms. Half-board (dinner, bed, breakfast) is standard; they serve substantial mountain cooking. There's a small bar. The season runs May through September, depending on snow conditions. Water comes from the pass itself. Mobile signal is spotty but not absent. The refugio closes weekdays in shoulder seasons (May, late September), so check before planning a solo trip.

Book direct by email or phone at least two weeks ahead for July and August. June and September are reliably quieter. The hut fills on summer weekends, so Wednesday to Friday departures are more likely to find beds. They accept cash and card payments. Specify your arrival time when you book so they can prepare meals accordingly.
