Refuge Pianezza

Rifugio Pianezza sits at 1,252m in the Bergamasque Alps, a working base for routes into the limestone peaks above the Val Seriana. You reach it on foot from Castione della Presolana in 1.5 hours via a steady trail through mixed forest. The hut occupies a small clearing with views east toward Pizzo della Presolana. Access remains feasible year-round on the marked path, though snow changes conditions November through April.

The refuge runs as a small family operation with 9 beds split between two rooms. The keeper serves hot meals and drinks; bring cash. A basic toilet and washroom are available. This is not a social hub—it exists for people working the rock and scrambles above, or crossing the higher ridges. The hut operates most of the year, but confirm opening before traveling in winter.

Ring ahead to book. The phone number is on the hut's local information sheets and via the Bergamo CAI section. The refuge fills quickly on weekends during July and August; book 2–3 weeks ahead for these dates. Outside summer, weekday visits rarely require advance warning. Come prepared for simple accommodation and self-reliance on the mountain.
