About
Rifugio Bozano sits at 2,453m in the Maritime Alps on the border between Piedmont and Liguria. Reach it from the Passo di Gorra (1,995m) in 2.5 hours on marked trail, or from the Val Pesio approach in around 3 hours. The hut works as a base for traversing the high ridges between Mont Bego (2,450m) and Cima di Nasta (2,747m). Most hikers arrive from the Colle della Boaria route or the Vallone della Pesio.
The refuge holds 80 beds across multiple rooms and serves dinner and breakfast. It has showers—a real advantage at this elevation. The hut opens late June through September, weather dependent. Water comes from meltstreams; the kitchen is basic but reliable. A small stove provides warmth on cold nights. The hut sits above the tree line with views west toward the Ligurian coast on clear days.
Book through CAI's rifugi.net portal or contact Liguria section directly. July and August weekends fill by early June; aim to book 4–6 weeks ahead for peak season. Mid-week and shoulder months (June, September) have better availability. The hut can host groups; contact the manager for details on large parties.

Frequently Asked Questions
Book at least 2–3 weeks ahead during summer (July–August), especially weekends; shoulder seasons need less notice. Contact via rifugi.net or check the CAI website for direct contact details.
It's typically open June through September, with peak staffing mid-July to end of August; confirm current dates before planning, as Alpine huts sometimes close unexpectedly.
From Passo di Gorra (1,995m) allow 2.5 hours on marked trail; the Val Pesio approach takes around 3 hours. Both are well-signposted; the Passo di Gorra start is the most direct.
It has 80 beds in shared rooms, serves dinner and breakfast, and has shower facilities. Bring your own toiletries; water is available.
It works well for fit hikers doing ridge traversals between Mont Bego and Cima di Nasta; the approach trails are non-technical but exposed at altitude, so not ideal for young children or inexperienced walkers.
