About

Rifugio Solivo sits at 1050m in the Piedmont Alps, deep in the Val di Susa above the village of Susa. The hut lies on the main hiking route between Susa and the higher refuges of the Mont Cenis massif. Reach it in 2.5–3 hours from Susa town center via a steady forest path that gains 700m elevation. The trail is well-marked and popular with day-hikers as well as those heading higher into the range. From Solivo you can push on to Rifugio Aget or traverse toward the Gran Punta in 4–5 hours.

The refuge operates year-round and holds around 40 beds in simple shared rooms. Hot meals focus on Piedmont mountain cooking: pasta, polenta, local cheeses, and hearty soups. The bar serves coffee, tea, and grappa. Basic shower facilities are available. Winter access depends on snow conditions; phone ahead if you're coming December through March. The hut is managed by CAI Susa and welcomes both CAI members and non-members without surcharge.

Book directly with the hut by phone in peak season (July–August and weekends in June and September). Outside these periods, walk-ins are usually fine. Reserve at least one week ahead for summer weekends. The hut closes occasionally in January and February; confirm opening dates before you go. Pay cash or bank transfer; card payment is not available.
