About
Baito del Cadinel sits at 2,260m on the Brenta Dolomites' western edge, accessed via the Val di Non from the north or from Malga Spora to the south. Most hikers approach from Dimaro (1,026m) via the Malga Spora trail in 4–5 hours. The hut stands on a working alpine meadow system, well-placed for day trips into the Brenta limestone peaks and traverses across the range.
The rifugio operates as a simple mountain hut with 40 beds in basic shared rooms and a working farm kitchen. Meals focus on local Trentino fare: pasta, polenta, and meat dishes prepared from their own animals. Water comes from a spring. The hut runs June through September only. No electricity beyond basics. Mattresses and blankets provided; bring your own towel. The SAT (Società degli Alpinisti Tridentini) manages the property and maintains trails in the area.
Book directly with the hut by phone or email at least 4 weeks ahead for July and August. July and August fill fast. June and September offer more flexibility but expect colder nights. The hut can sleep groups of 8 or more by arrangement. Arrive with cash—card payments are uncertain. The caretaker closes the hut on Mondays in the low season. Winter access is impossible.

Frequently Asked Questions
Book 2–3 weeks ahead for weekends and peak season (July–August); weekday visits can often be arranged with shorter notice. Contact via rifugio.net or check cai.it for current booking details.
Open June through September as a staffed rifugio; operating conditions depend on snow melt in early season and weather stability, so confirm current status before visiting.
Most hikers start from Dimaro (1,026m) and follow the Malga Spora trail, gaining 1,234m elevation in 4–5 hours; the northern Val di Non approach is longer but offers alternate routing.
40 beds in basic shared dorm rooms; the farm kitchen serves simple traditional meals sourced from the working alpine meadow—expect hearty mountain food rather than varied menus.
Better for fit hikers than beginners: the 4–5 hour approach from Dimaro is sustained climbing at altitude, though families with mountain experience and proper acclimatization can manage it; it's ideal for mountaineers planning Brenta peak traverses.
