Malga Miesnotta di Mezzo
3.7About
This is a working alpine dairy (malga) that also welcomes hikers. It offers simple accommodation in basic dormitories with 20-25 beds total and shared bathroom facilities. The kitchen serves hearty mountain food—casunziei (local cheese pasta), speck, and fresh dairy products made on-site. Half-board is standard. There's no shower, which is typical for traditional malgas at this elevation. The hut operates June through September, closing during winter months when snow makes access difficult.
Book directly by phone or email as far ahead as possible; July and August fill weeks in advance. Weekend availability is tight even in shoulder seasons. The setting works best as a base for day hikes across the Tre Cime trails rather than a destination in itself. Come prepared for cold nights even in summer—bring a sleeping bag rated to 5°C. The hut's appeal is access to serious alpine hiking, not luxury.
