Malga Rava di Sopra

Malga Rava di Sopra sits at 2,030m in the Dolomites, accessible from the Passo Ghedina side. The approach takes 2–3 hours on a well-marked trail from the valley. You can also reach it from Tre Cime di Lavaredo in 4–5 hours, which makes it a logical stop on longer ridge traverses. The hut is positioned where pastoral pasture meets serious alpine terrain, giving you immediate access to scrambles and climbs throughout the Sorau and Ra Gusela massifs.
The hut operates year-round and sleeps around 40 people in dormitory-style rooms. Half-board is the standard arrangement: expect simple, filling mountain food cooked fresh daily. The kitchen accommodates vegetarian diets if you notify them when booking. Shower facilities are available, though water can run cold. This is a working mountain dairy facility, not a tourist lodge, so expect authentic Dolomite hospitality and a working farm atmosphere during summer months when the alpage is active.
Book directly with the hut by phone or email at least 2–3 weeks ahead during July and August. June and September are quieter but still reliable. Winter access depends on snow conditions—call before attempting winter ascents. The hut takes cash and bank transfers; card payments depend on mobile signal, which is inconsistent.
