Monti Pallidi

Monti Pallidi sits at 2,477m in the Dolomites near Cortina d'Ampezzo. The standard approach from Cortina takes 2.5 hours via the Rio Gere valley—a steady climb through larch forest that opens onto alpine meadows. You can also reach it in 3 hours from the Tre Croci pass (2,457m) to the south. The hut sits at the junction of several ridgelines and is a natural hub for exploring the Sorapis massif and the Ra Ghedina peaks.
The hut sleeps around 100 guests across multiple rooms. Meals are solid mountain fare: hearty lunches and three-course dinners with local specialties like casunziei and venison. The kitchen serves basic packed lunches for early starts. Showers are available. The hut operates from mid-June through September, with limited service in shoulder months. No electricity in rooms—bring a headlamp. Cell signal is weak but present.
Book 8 weeks ahead for July and August weekends. Direct booking by phone or email is fastest. Many guests treat it as a one-night stop on longer ridge traversals toward Auronzo or southbound toward the Tre Croci, so flexibility on dates improves availability. The hut gets busy on clear-weather weekends. Arrive by early afternoon to secure a bed and settle in for dinner by 7pm.
