The hut is a 2.5-hour walk from Ginzling village (1,005m), following the Zillertal valley upstream via a well-marked summer path. You can shorten the approach by taking a lift or mountain bike to Bärenbadalm first. Winter access is severely limited; most years the hut closes from November to April.
The hut holds 50 people across simple dormitory rooms and a few doubles. Half-board is standard. The kitchen serves hearty Austrian-Tyrolean food heavy on soups, dumplings, and schnitzel.
