About

Capanna Bleis sits at 2,516m in the Zillertal Alps on the border between Trentino and South Tyrol. Reach it from Fondo in the Zillertal valley (about 90 minutes by car from Innsbruck). From Zell am Ziller, hike via the Stillup reservoir and the Kasseler Hütte route; allow 4–5 hours for the ascent. The hut also connects to longer traverses toward the Pfitsch valley and links to other rifugios for multi-day tours.

The hut sleeps 60 in shared dormitories. Meals are half-board or full-board only—dinner and breakfast are hearty. The kitchen caters well to vegetarians with advance notice. Water comes from the mountain; toilets are basic Alpine standard. Open June through September, weather permitting. Winter access requires mountaineering skills and is not standard. Mobile coverage is poor; bring a paper map and compass.

Book directly through the hut's website or call ahead 2–3 weeks before arrival, especially for July and August. The hut fills quickly during the main hiking season. Arrive by 17:00 to secure a place at dinner. Cash payment is preferred; card facilities may be limited. Staff speak Italian, German, and basic English. If the hut is full, the Kasseler Hütte (2,248m) lies 1.5 hours below on the approach route.
