Rifugio Forestale

Rifugio Forestale sits at 1,551m in the northern Apennines, accessible by hiking trails from multiple valleys. The hut serves as a base for ridge traverses and peaks in the 2,000m range. Most approaches take 3–4 hours on well-marked paths. The location works well for day trips to nearby summits or as a stopping point on longer mountain routes.
The rifugio has 30 beds split across basic dormitory rooms. Meals are available on-site: half-board (dinner and breakfast) is standard, packed lunches can be arranged. The kitchen handles vegetarian diets and specific requests if notified in advance. Water and heating are reliable year-round. Opening runs from April through October, with weekends available in shoulder months. Winter closures are firm.
