Rifugio Rosetta "Giovanni Pedrotti" stands at 2,581 m on the rim of the Altopiano delle Pale di San Martino, the vast lunar stone plateau above San Martino di Castrozza in Trentino. One of the historic huts of the Società degli Alpinisti Tridentini (SAT) — the first refuge here opened in 1889 and the present building is named after SAT president Giovanni Pedrotti — it is run by mountain guide Mariano Lott and Roberta, with about 80 beds. Uniquely for a hut at this altitude, it is almost lift-served: the Colverde gondola and Rosetta cable car rise from San Martino (1,466 m) to the plateau edge, leaving only a 10-15 minute walk over Passo della Rosetta on path 701. Walkers can instead climb path 701 via Col Verde in about 3 hours, or path 702 through the Val di Roda. The summer season runs from 20 June to late September, with additional winter openings around Christmas and on ski-season weekends. The hut is the hub of the Palaronda trek, the standard base for Cima della Rosetta, the Bolver-Lugli via ferrata approach and crossings to the Pradidali, Mulaz and Treviso huts beneath Cimon della Pala and Cima Vezzana.

The main season runs from 20 June to late September (about 28 September, with autumn dates on request). It also opens in winter from 24 December to early January and on weekends during the ski season, when overnight stays are possible in February and March.
Ride the Colverde gondola from San Martino di Castrozza (1,466 m) and connect to the Rosetta cable car up to the plateau at about 2,630 m. From the top station it is only a 10-15 minute walk on path 701 over Passo della Rosetta to the hut.
Yes — thanks to the cable cars it is one of the most accessible 2,500 m-plus huts in the Dolomites, and the short walk from the lift is manageable for children. The full hiking approaches from San Martino are steep, scree-covered climbs of about 900-1,100 m and suit fit walkers.
The hut serves simple traditional Trentino mountain dishes with half-board for overnight guests and a busy daytime restaurant for plateau day-trippers. It is the main base for the Palaronda trek, and guided via ferrata and ski-touring programmes operate from the hut.
