Rifugio Fredarola Harbor

Rifugio Fredarola is at 2,370m on the main hiking routes through the Orobian Alps. You reach it by trail from the valley in roughly 3-4 hours, depending on your starting point. The hut sits on a well-marked path that connects several major ridge walks and peak ascents in the region. This location makes it a natural stop for multi-day traverses across the range.

The rifugio has 30 beds spread across shared rooms. Half-board (dinner, bed, breakfast) is standard; they also serve packed lunches if you request ahead. Water comes from a spring. The hut runs on gas heating and has limited solar power. They're open from mid-June through late September, closing earlier in poor snow years. Phone ahead to confirm before visiting in shoulder months.

Book directly by email or phone at least 2-3 weeks ahead. July and August fill quickly—book 6-8 weeks ahead for those months. The hut responds slowly to email in high season; calling is faster. They accept cash and bank transfer but confirm payment methods when you book. In September and early June, walk-ins are usually possible if you don't mind a shared mattress on the floor.
