Schlüterhütte - Rifugio Genova

Schlüterhütte sits at 2,306m on the border between South Tyrol and Veneto, serving as a hub for hikers crossing the Zillertal Alps. You reach it from the north via the Zillertal or from the south via the Passeier Valley. From Mayrhofen in the Zillertal, allow 4.5 hours on foot. The hut marks a natural stopping point on multi-day routes like the Zillertal Rucksack Trek and connects to trails heading toward the Pfitsch Valley and Passo del Sella.
The hut holds 90 beds across multiple rooms, from dormitories to doubles. Hot showers are available—rare enough at this elevation that it's worth noting. Meals follow standard Alpine hut format: hearty dinners, packed lunches to order, and a solid breakfast. The kitchen handles vegetarian and some dietary requests if you request ahead. The hut operates year-round but sees heaviest use June through September. March to May and October to November are shoulder seasons with reduced staffing and fewer amenities.
