About

This bivouac sits at 3540m on the col between Dent Blanche and Tête de Valpelline in the Gran Paradiso massif. Approach from Valgrisanche valley via the Rifugio Pertini (2,740m, roughly 5–6 hours), or from the south via Valsavarenche. The final push to the col involves steep scree and rock; previous Alpine experience is essential. This is a mountaineer's base, not a hiker's refuge.

The bivouac holds 15 beds in basic dormitory style. Water comes from snow melt in season (July–September); carry what you need from lower elevations. There is no kitchen or prepared meals—bring a stove and all food. Expect no electricity or heating. The structure provides shelter and protection from wind; bring a sleeping bag rated for sub-zero temperatures even in summer. A warden is present during the season but services are minimal.

Book by email directly with CAS (Club Alpino Svizzero). Contact details are available through cai.it or the hut's official listing. Capacity fills quickly during July and August, particularly for parties climbing the Dent Blanche (4357m) or traversing toward Breithorn. Book at least 4–6 weeks ahead if you plan to visit during peak season. This is a working mountaineering bivouac, not a destination hut—plan accordingly.
