Hahnenkammhütte

Hahnenkammhütte sits at 2,025m on the Tre Croci Pass between the Sorapis and Ra Gusela massifs in the Dolomites. The hut is a 2-hour hike from Cortina d'Ampezzo, accessed via well-marked trails from the Tre Croci trailhead. Most climbers approach from the south, starting at Cortina and gaining 750m on a straightforward mountain path. The hut also serves as a base for accessing the Sorapis cirque and technical alpine routes in the area.

The hut offers 60 beds across multiple dormitory rooms and a handful of private doubles. Hot meals are served daily, with a strong emphasis on Veneto mountain cooking. The kitchen provides packed lunches for climbers. There's a small bar, heating in the common areas, and toilet facilities with running water. The hut operates year-round, though winter access requires mountaineering experience and proper avalanche assessment. July and August bring full capacity; shoulder seasons offer more flexibility.

Book directly with the hut at least 6 weeks ahead for summer weekends and holidays. The hut accepts credit cards and maintains a website with up-to-date room availability. Arrive before dark—the final approach is exposed to weather. Winter climbing parties should contact the keeper by phone at least 10 days in advance to confirm conditions and access.
