Alpine Dairy Alta di Presson

Malga Alta di Presson sits at 1,840m on the Asiago Plateau in the Veneto Dolomites. The hut is reached from Asiago town via the village of Roana, then a hiking trail of roughly 2–3 hours depending on your route. You can also approach from the Canale Valley side. The location works as a base for day walks across the plateau's meadows and forest trails, or as a stop on longer traverses through the Asiago highlands.

This is a working alpine dairy (malga), so the atmosphere differs from typical rifugios. The hut offers basic refuge accommodation with a small number of beds—typically 8–12—and serves meals built around fresh local dairy products and traditional Veneto mountain food. Water comes from a spring. The season runs from late spring through early autumn; call ahead as opening dates shift with snow melt. Facilities are simple: no showers or hot water beyond the kitchen, and toilets are basic.

Book directly by phone or email at least 2 weeks ahead during July and August. Outside peak season, a few days' notice usually suffices. The hut operates as a working farm first and tourist accommodation second, so expect irregular hours and occasional closure for farm work.
