Rifugio Angelo Dibona sits at 2,083 m in the Valon de Tofana, directly beneath the huge south face of Tofana di Rozes (3,225 m) above Cortina d'Ampezzo. The privately run, family-managed hut is named after Angelo Dibona (1879-1956), the legendary Ampezzo mountain guide, and it is the classic base for the Via Ferrata Giovanni Lipella and the normal route on Tofana di Rozes, with Rifugio Giussani reachable higher up via path 403. Unusually for a hut at this altitude, you can drive almost to the door: a small road leaves the SR48 Cortina-Falzarego road at km 113.8 and climbs past Malga Fedarola to the hut, so it works equally well for climbers, Alta Via hikers and families out for lunch on the terrace. Walkers can also approach on path 442 from Cianzope on the SR48 (about 1.5 hours) or through the Vallon de Tofana on paths 414 and 403. The hut sleeps around 50 in rooms and dormitories, with a restaurant serving Ampezzo cuisine. It is open from roughly mid-June to late September, plus holiday periods and weekends in winter.

Book directly with the hut by phone (+39 0436 860294) or email ([email protected]). It is privately run, so CAI online booking does not apply. Reserve well ahead for July and August, when climbers on the Tofana di Rozes routes and Via Ferrata Lipella fill the beds.
The main season runs from roughly mid-June to late September. The hut also opens in winter over the Christmas-Epiphany holidays and at weekends through the ski season, mainly as a restaurant. Exact dates vary by year, so check before travelling.

Yes. Thanks to the road access it is one of the easiest huts to reach in the Tofane, and the terrace under the south face of Tofana di Rozes is a popular family lunch spot. The via ferratas and summit routes that start here, however, are for experienced, properly equipped parties.
The hut has a restaurant serving traditional Ampezzo and Italian mountain dishes, a large sun terrace, and around 50 beds in rooms and dormitories. Pets are welcome in the restaurant but not in the rooms. Half board is the usual arrangement for overnight guests.
