Refuge Dosso Larici

Rifugio Dosso Larici sits at 1,838m in the Dolomites of Veneto, on the slopes of Monte Garda. The hut is a straightforward 2.5-hour walk from Passo Ghedina (1,530m), following marked trails through larch forest. You can reach Passo Ghedina by car from Cortina d'Ampezzo or via the valley road from Colle Santa Lucia. The location makes it an ideal base for day walks across the plateau or a stop on longer ridge traverses in the Nuvolau group.

The rifugio is a simple mountain hut with 40 beds in basic dorms and doubles. Half-board is standard practice here—you'll get dinner and breakfast with your bed. The kitchen serves honest Veneto fare: pasta e fagioli, risotto, local cheeses. The hut is staffed year-round but check ahead for winter conditions; most guests come June through September. Cold showers, no Wi-Fi, and a wood stove in the common room are the norm.

Book direct by phone or email at least 4 weeks ahead for July and August. July weekends fill quickly if there's good weather. Outside peak season, a week's notice usually suffices. The hut can arrange transport from Passo Ghedina with advance notice if you're carrying heavy loads. Confirm your arrival time when you book—the kitchen works to a tight schedule.
